Update as of 6/3/25
Dancer’s memorial stone was returned to its owner! Matthew Johnson, who lives near the area the stone was found, shared that Dancer was his mother’s dog. The stone was relocated to his home here in town after his mother’s passing. Another stone remains missing, in the same size and similar design, for another family dog named “Coffee.” If you have seen Coffee’s memorial stone, please call us at 307-328-4599 and we will get the message to Mr. Johnson.

A memorial stone inscribed with the name “Dancer” was discovered along Walnut Street. We believe it may belong to a beloved pet.
City staff has checked city and state records and reached out to local veterinarians but have been unable to locate Dancer’s owners or determine the stone’s original location.
If you have any information that could help us return the memorial to Dancer’s final resting place or to the family who placed it, please contact Public Works at 328-4599. We appreciate your help in honoring Dancer’s memory.
