[ARCHIVED] Watering at Parks

water

The City of Rawlins has reduced our park watering due to a temporary reduction in water tank storage levels. Watering is reduced and, in some cases, temporarily suspended to green spaces to guarantee the availability of clean water for all community uses, including drinking, bathing, household watering, and more.

At this point, the health of the grass long-term is not in danger. Rochelle Ranch Golf Course has maintained watering throughout only because it is fed by a separate water source - untreated water from the North Platte.

Since the Parks and Recreation department has been asked to reduce watering, we are also notifying the public. Optionally, individuals or organizations can choose to reduce household watering so that our water supply can increase more quickly. This is not a mandatory restriction. This reduction began last Friday, but unfortunately due to the long weekend public notification was not sent earlier.

Separately, there are issues with the irrigation system at Tully Park. The Public Works and Parks and Recreation Departments are working together to fix the irrigation and for a temporary water solution for the meantime at Tully Park.
