Thanks to a generous grant from the Carbon County School District #1 Recreation Board, the City of Rawlins Parks and Recreation Department hired Golf and Sport Solutions to significantly improve a baseball field at the Sports Complex!
Last week, Golf and Sports Solutions brought in 75 tons of clay/dirt infield mix and 13,800 square feet of sod for the Upper (southwest) Baseball Field at the Sports Complex (by the Recreation Center). They laser graded and performed ground repairs, then laid infield mix and sod on the infield. Parks have scheduled daily watering for as long as water is available to help the gorgeous new turf take hold and stay strong for many years. Please help it succeed by staying off the field until Monday, July 15th.
Parks & Recreation Director Nikki Howell said, “With the generosity of the CCSD#1 Rec Board, HF Sinclair, Wyoming Community Gas and other donors, the hard work of the baseball programs’ and leagues’ volunteers, and the teamwork of City staff, our local and visiting teams will enjoy better fields and facilities at both the Sports Complex and the VFW Fields for years to come.”
The City’s streets and parks divisions made this work more affordable by doing prep work in March. The Streets division scraped the turf, and the Parks division cleaned the infield. By prepping the field in-house, we allowed the grant money to go further. The northeast field is also scheduled to be redone by Golf and Sports Solutions in Fall 2024. This fall, the City is also renovating buildings and improving the asphalt at the VFW Fields on Daley and Rodeo Streets.
