The City of Rawlins is sending out a public notice to meet EPA requirements. In 2020, during a sanitary survey, the EPA gave us notice of three deficiencies that needed corrected. In January 2023, we received a detailed follow-up notice from the EPA that described further actions needed by July 2023. First, for the Tank Farm, the top air vent needs to be 8" tall, and 24 mesh screens need to be installed over the pipes. To do this, the tank farm vents need to be reconfigured. Materials are on order, and it will be completed as soon as they arrive. Second, the clear well at the water plant needed to be inspected and cleaned. We had the clear well inspected and cleaned on June 26th, 2023, which was the earliest we could schedule it. We are awaiting the written inspection report and pictures to satisfy EPA’s requirements.
