Due to community questions, the City of Rawlins would like to assure the public that our water is safe to drink and share the ways we would communicate if there is ever an issue.
“Our city water is safe, if there ever is an issue we will let the community know,” stated City Manager Shawn Metcalf. “Although we are currently handling infrastructure issues, these are not affecting water quality and safety. Our water treatment and utilities team rigorously monitor our water quality, both at the treatment plant and at taps throughout the community.”
If there is an issue with water quality, such as a boil water notice, the City would work vigorously to notify our community as quickly and thoroughly as possible. These would include:
- Notice via AlertSense to receive emergency alerts via phone, text, app, email or pager – sign up at CarbonWy.MyFreeAlerts.com or call 307-324-2776 for assistance
- Immediate notice to news media so they can interrupt normal broadcasting
- Notice to all email addresses in our Utility Bill payment system - sign up at xpressbillpay.com or call 1-800-768-7296 for assistance
- Place electronic message boards and flyers throughout the community
- Notify community partners directly, such as the hospital and schools
