The Recycling Center only recycles things that there is a market or use for, such as cardboard and some plastics; there are many things that the recycling brokers do not want. For example, if the recycling center collected hardcover books, we would have to store them and then pay $75/ton for them to be picked up. They cannot be placed in paper recycling. For our Recycling Center to stay financially viable, we do not accept items that are a charge for us to have removed.
